What can you ask without diagnosing the water?
Ask a provider which source it identified, what materials were contacted and whether source repair is included in its scope. A device name alone does not establish a contamination category. Our calculator offers planning bands, not a test of water at your property.
Why treat outside water separately?
EPA warns that floodwater can carry bacteria, chemicals and other hazards. Los Angeles County links address-level flood resources, but neither a postal code nor a map shows the exact contact conditions after an incident. The stormwater page explains the next professional questions.
Where does insurance enter the discussion?
California's insurance guide generally distinguishes sudden accidental damage from flood and seepage. Ask the insurer to interpret the policy and actual cause. A professional's work scope and the insurer's coverage decision should not be confused.
Stay away from the affected area, do not touch electrical switches, outlets or appliances near water, and call a professional. If anyone is in danger, leave the area and call 911.
